Playback singer Vipul Mehta, who made his debut in the independent music space with Rowaan, is set to present Roobaroo, a Punjabi love offering that sees the protagonist reminisce the moments spent with his partner.

“This is my first composition. It is a fusion of [Hindi] and Punjabi. Punjabi comes to me naturally because I was born and brought up in Amritsar. Having grown up listening to legendary Punjabi artistes, I’ve been influenced by their music,” says the Ishq da panga singer.

The melancholic offering, he says, is an ideal representation of his music sensibilities. “I prefer melancholic music more than peppy tunes.  Listening to, and creating such compositions makes me feel understood. I believe that when a song’s lyrics speak of an artiste’s experiences, and its music conveys his emotions, he feels like he belongs. It helps me overcome negativity. I have had the hook line of Roobaroo in my head for years,” says the Indian Idol six winner, adding that the song will resonate with lovers who are separated from their partners in the current scenario. “After all, situation  like these arise in everyone’s life, when the beloved is far away and they wish to see them in person.”
