Actor Chhaya Kadam, who appeared in 'All We Imagine As Light,' talked about the team dancing on the red carpet at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. In an interview with PTI, Chhaya shared her reaction when someone from Mumbai teased her about their dance. The film's director, Payal Kapadia, along with Chhaya, Kani Kusruti, and Divya Prabha, joined in the dance on the red carpet.

Chhaya recalled who started dancing first, "I'm not sure at this point, but it was probably me. Someone from Mumbai called and joked, 'You were dancing as if you were in your own courtyard'. I was like, 'Kyun nahin (Why not)?' Just to be part of the main competition after 30 years is a huge achievement, not to count the award that we won. Why follow protocol? Hum apni khushi aise hi dikhaate hain, kood kood kar (That's how we express our joy, by breaking into a dance)."

The actor mentioned that their dance on the red carpet at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival was a joyful moment, with people around them joining in the celebration, "When we stood still for photographs, even the photographers started requesting us to keep dancing. There was just so much happiness around. The sign that the film would win big at the festival was apparent." She mentioned that when she got out of her car for the film's premiere, she heard the Marathi song "Gulabi Saree" playing.

About All We Imagine As Light

In 30 years, Payal Kapadia's 'All That We Imagine As Light' became the first Indian film to be selected for Palme d'Or, the main competition at Cannes 2024 Film Festival. After its screening on Thursday at the French Riviera, it became one of the lead contenders for Palme d'Or. While the film has not bagged the award, it has received the jury prize or the Grand Prix, making it the first Indian film ever to win the title. 'Anora' which was in competition won the Palme d'Or.

Payal Kapadia accepted the award from the jury on the closing night of the prestigious film festival. She also invited on stage her lead cast-Kani Kusruti, Chayya Kadam and Divya Prabha- while accepting the award and thanked them. "It really takes a village," said Kapadia while thanking her team behind the film.
