In a recently resurfaced clip from Kareena Kapoor's chat show 'What Women Want' aired in 2020, Kareena Kapoor found herself facing criticism for her use of offensive language while discussing colourism with guest Masaba Gupta. The conversation delved into the issue of racist comments directed at Masaba due to her mixed heritage, being the daughter of actor Neena Gupta and cricketer Viv Richards.

Kareena Kapoor Khan's show What Women Want features candid conversations with celebrities, exploring topics like women's issues, fashion, love, lifestyle, and more. It also includes interviews with advocates of women's rights, both men and women, working towards empowerment.

During the interview, Kareena brought up the topic of people making racist remarks about Masaba's 'half-Indian, half-West Indian' lineage, to which Masaba expressed her bewilderment about Indians' obsession with fair skin despite a significant portion of the population having darker complexions. Masaba mentioned being called derogatory terms that allude to her heritage, which she pointed out as being banned in many places due to its offensive nature.

In response, Kareena interjected with an offensive term, stating that it was also banned. Masaba echoed this sentiment and highlighted how people often resort to comparing her and others with African heritage to apes and monkeys.

The resurfaced video, now circulating on Twitter, stirred significant backlash towards Kareena Kapoor. Many users criticized her casual approach to discussing racism and questioned the privileged perspective displayed during the conversation. One user expressed surprise that privileged individuals seemed unaware of the offensive nature of racist words and the reasons behind their banning in various places.

The clip's resurgence prompts discussions on awareness and sensitivity when discussing race and colorism, emphasizing the responsibility of public figures in promoting inclusive conversations.
