Earlier this morning, Bollywood actor John Abraham took to his Instagram to share an appeal to Indian parliamentarians. The actor, who is passionate about animals’ rights and has taken several measures in the past, too, has taken his activism to the next level. Previously, John actively advocated for animal shelters like Animals Matter to Me through his social media accounts. John was also involved with other organisations like People for Animals (PFA) and endorsed PETA. He also pledged his support to Save Our Tigers, and has invested a great deal of his time and efforts into protecting animals at every level.

Today, John won the hearts of eleven and a half million Instagram followers and perhaps expanded his fanbase with this candid video. He shared, “A bird cannot go to court, a horse doesn't vote, a dog cannot share its plight with a journalist. Animals don't have a voice, but you do. And it's time for you to speak up today.” John encouraged his followers to support his cause.

“Main aaj humare sabhi members of Parliament se yeh appeal karna chahata hoon ki woh Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Amendment Bill ko Parliament ke monsoon session me laayein,“ John added. “Kisi ghode ki jaan lene ki, kisi puppy par acid phekne ki, kisi chidiya ko patthar marne ki saza, 50 rupee ki penalty? Ab bahut ho gaya. India needs to protect its animal citizens too.”

He then requested each viewer of the video to write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister for Animal Husbandry, Parshottam Rupala. John struck a chord with all the animal lovers. He also pointed out that “Violence towards animals is closely linked with violence in society, public safety and health.”

The video is quickly gaining lots of traction and has already been viewed approximately 1,55,000 times merely half an hour after it was posted. The caption of the post mentions the PMO’s account, as well as includes the Instagram handles of PFA and other animal protection organisations.
