Currently in the midst of promoting No Land’s Man, his next with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, celebrated filmmaker Mostofa Farooqui recounts his association with Irrfan Khan. Farooqui, who collaborated with the late actor in No Bed of Roses (2017), reveals that he was keen to remake the director’s Bengali film, Ant Story (2013).

Farooqui tells mid-day, “Irrfan bhai wanted to make [Ant Story] in Hindi. I had made the film in Bengali under the name Piprabidya, and he bought the rights to it.
All the payments were already made. He had seen it on Netflix.”

However, busy with his other commitments, Khan never kicked off the project. “It is sad that we lost him. It is a huge loss. He was not only a great artiste but also a great human being. I would always tell him that he wasn’t just an actor but also a poet.”

Meanwhile, Siddiqui-starrer No Land’s Man is an upcoming American-Bangladeshi-Indian drama which chronicles the journey of a South Asian man. Matters get complicated when he meets an Australian woman in America.

The film deals with fascism and identity crisis, and also features Tahsan Rahman Khan and Eisha Chopra.
