Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt
The ceremonies for the most eagerly awaited wedding in tinsel town are set to begin tomorrow at RK House in Chembur. Ahead of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s shaadi, her bridal outfits created by Sabyasachi Mukherjee were delivered to her Bandra home yesterday. Preparations are on in full swing at the actors’ residences. The celebrations will kick off with the mehndi on April 13, followed by haldi and sangeet the next day and the baaraat on April 15. While the couple will have a Punjabi wedding in the wee hours of April 16, we now hear that they may have an intimate exchange of vows before taking the saat pheras. Apparently, Ranbir and Alia have already written their respective vows that they will read out to each other in the presence of both families. Though intimate, the high-profile wedding will have ample security. Over 200 bouncers have been booked to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Deferred by another week
Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur’s Jersey won’t release on April 14. Producer Aman Gill issued a statement, saying, “As a team, we have put our blood, sweat and tears into Jersey and would like our beloved film to reach all of you in the widest possible way. Jersey will now release on April 22.” Trade sources attribute this to stiff competition in the number of screens for KGF: Chapter 2, which also opens in cinemas on April 14.
Driven by instinct
Bhumi Pednekar says Badhaai Do has been a great start to her career post the pandemic. The actor, who has an impressive slate including Anubhav Sinha’s Bheed, Shashank Khaitan’s Govinda Aala Re, Aanand L Rai’s Raksha Bandhan, and Gauri Khan’s Bhakshak, has always relied on her instinct to choose projects. “I have tried to pick the best scripts that I felt will not only deliver wholesome entertainment to audiences, but will also give them fresh content. I’m glad these subjects have worked for me so far and made me carve my niche in the Hindi film industry,” she shares.
New direction
Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan is gearing up to take his maiden directorial venture on floors soon. The youngster recently did a test shoot for the web series that is being backed by Red Chillies Entertainment. Sources say Aryan is clear about how he wants to go about his yet-untitled show and started by getting the team together to understand the project thoroughly before the cameras roll. While pre-production for the series has already begun, the shooting dates will be finalised soon. Maska (2020) actor Prit Kamani, who features in Jersey, was also said to be present for Aryan’s test shoot.
Sequel talk!
We don’t know if Jackie Chan’s fans would love to remember Kung Fu Yoga (KFY), but its sequel is being planned. Sonu Sood, who played a parallel lead in the 2017 action adventure film, reportedly revealed that the makers have been scripting its second instalment. Director Stanley Tong had even shared the idea with Sonu, but then the pandemic struck. Now, the Simmba actor hopes the film happens soon. Going by the misadventure KFY turned out to be, we are not exactly hoping for an encore.
Only for Raveena
Maninee De, who will be seen in Ghudchadi, has said that she took up a comic role in the film only for Raveena Tandon. “Initially, I was skeptical about signing up for this movie. But since I have scenes with Raveena, who I am very fond of as an actor and a human being, I decided to take it up,” says Maninee. She adds that she adores the Aranyak actor. “I’m doing this film only because she is a part of the principal cast.” Director Binoy Gandhi’s comedy also stars Sanjay Dutt and Aruna Irani.
Mission complete
Ishaan Khatter wrapped up the shoot of director Raja Krishna Menon’s Pippa, which highlights the use of the Russian amphibious war tank in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. The actor plays Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta, a real-life veteran, who, along with his siblings, fought the war that ended with the liberation of the present-day Bangladesh. Ishaan shared some working stills and a picture from the wrap-up celebration, writing, “Filled with gratitude for the experience of this film. It has been a dream to work with a team as excellent as this one. Humbled and brimming with love. This is your Captain Balram Singh Mehta signing off from Pippa.” The film is scheduled to release on December 9.
