Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif
Earlier this August, Yash Raj Films marked a decade of Ek Tha Tiger (2012) by announcing the release date of the third instalment of the action-thriller franchise fronted by Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. Until Friday, Tiger 3, helmed by Maneesh Sharma, was slated to arrive in theatres on Eid—April 21, 2023. However, the release has now been deferred to next Diwali. Salman announced the new date of his upcoming Tiger outing with a poster and wrote, “Tiger has a new date… Diwali 2023 it is.” While the makers haven’t revealed reasons for the delay, we hear the shooting is not yet complete. Shah Rukh Khan, who plays a cameo in Tiger 3, is apparently yet to shoot his scenes with Salman. The latter is said to be racing against time to complete his other production venture, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Rumours are rife that the Farhad Samji-directorial venture, which is slated to release on December 30 this year, might take up Tiger 3’s Eid date, ie April 21, 2023. However, we are still waiting on the official confirmation about the developments.

Rajini, Mani to reunite
Chatter in Chennai is that Mani Ratnam and Rajinikanth are likely to team up again. It has been almost 32 years since their last gangster drama, Thalapathi (1991). Rajini, who is currently working with director Nelson on Jailer, has inked a two-film deal with the Lyca Productions—the producers of Mani’s two-part magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan. Currently, Ponniyin Selvan: I is raking in the moolah at the box office, emerging as the biggest Tamil hit ever. It is being said that after wrapping up Jailer, Rajini will fulfill his commitments to Lyca. However, the superstar will first shoot a movie with director Sybil Chakravarthy before reuniting with Mani.

Paid back
Even as Chiranjeevi’s Dussehra offering, Godfather, continues to underperform at the box office, he has addressed the debacle of his previous film, Acharya. The film was crucial as it marked the maiden collaboration of the megastar and actor-son Ram Charan. Owning full responsibility, Chiranjeevi recently said, “I take the failure of Acharya in my stride. I have no guilt feelings about doing the film. In fact, both Ram and I returned 80 per cent of our remuneration to the producer.” Well, don’t ignore the elephant in the room, if Godfather is met with the same fate.
