‘Give Aryan a breather’

Though B-Town prefers to keep mum about such cases, Suniel Shetty has spoken up and asked for a “breather for Aryan”. On Sunday, the ‘Boycott Bollywood’ hashtag was Twitter’s top trend as a section of netizens slammed Shah Rukh Khan after his son Aryan was detained by the NCB. Speaking at an event in New Delhi, Shetty said, “When there is a raid, several people are caught. We assume that this child must have consumed drugs or that child must have done it. But the proceedings are on, let’s give that child [Aryan] a breather.” Shetty added, “Whenever something happens in Bollywood, the media scrutinises everything and jumps to conclusions. Give the child an opportunity. Let the real reports come out. Baccha hai. Taking care of him is our responsibility.” Anna too found himself facing the ire of netizens for calling Aryan, 23, a ‘baccha’.
Farewell, Natukaka
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Ghanshyam Nayak, who played the lovable Natukaka, passed away on Sunday. He was 77. The show’s producer, Asit Kumarr Modi, shared the news on Twitter. Though Nayak was undergoing treatment for cancer, it did not deter him from working. He had said that his last wish was to die with makeup on.

Bajpayee bereaved
On Sunday, Manoj Bajpayee’s father, RK Bajpayee, passed away in New Delhi. He was 83. His last rites were performed at the Nigambodh ghat. The actor, who had been shooting in Kochi, had rushed to the capital to attend to his ailing father.
Elnaaz goes international
It’s a “pinch-me moment” for Sacred Games actor Elnaaz Norouzi, who has landed a digital series, co-starring Hollywood legend Glenn Close. Norouzi is shooting for the second season of the espionage thriller Tehran, penned by Fauda (2015) writer Moshe Zonder. The unit is filming in Athens for the show about a Mossad agent who goes undercover on a dangerous mission. The Iranian-German actor also features in Jaideep Chopra’s Sangeen, alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui. She shot for the thriller earlier this year.

Pet’s death: Abu cries foul
Abu Malik and family are mourning the loss of their pet, Genghis Khan. The Chow Chow breed dog, would never go unnoticed when taken for a walk around the musician and event organiser’s Versova home. What’s adding to the misery of the Bigg Boss 13 contestant is how the canine passed away at a pet clinic on September 29. An agitated Malik is filing an FIR at the Amboli police station today for ‘medical negligence’. He alleges, “They have murdered my beloved pet. I took Genghis Khan for an X-ray to a leading pet clinic but they killed him. I’m in infinite grief. As a senior citizen, I demand justice.”
Same time, two films
Over the weekend, SS Rajamouli announced his multilingual, RRR, releases on January 7. The period drama, starring Ram Charan, NTR Jr, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn, follows Gangubai Kathiawadi, which is slated for January 6. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial venture also stars Bhatt and Devgn. The stars will have two releases at the same time. RRR was earlier clashing with Devgn’s Maidaan during Dussehra this month. Now, the sports drama is set for June 3.
New beginnings
Anupam Kher is off to Nepal for the shoot of Sooraj Barjatya’s Oonchai. “And suddenly you realise it is time to start something new and trust the magic of new beginnings,” the actor posted. The film, a story of four friends, also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Danny Denzongpa and Boman Irani. In August, Kher wrapped up filming Ajayan Venugopalan’s Shiv Shastri Balboa in the US.
Bundle of joy
Angad Bedi and Neha Dhupia welcomed a baby boy on Sunday. Bedi shared the news on social media and posted that “the newborn and the mother are doing well.” He added, “Neha has been such a warrior through this journey.” Dhupia had announced the pregnancy in July. The actor couple’s firstborn is daughter, Mehr, who is two. They tied the knot in 2018.
Hrithik, Ranbir teaming up?
Over the weekend, Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor held a meeting with producers Madhu Mantena and Namit Malhotra. It fuelled speculation that they were in talks for their upcoming project, Ramayana. The film, helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, will mark the first collaboration of the superstars. The two were in a preliminary round of discussions for the mythological, which rolls late next year. The buzz is that Kapoor will play Ram, and Roshan essays Raavan. The makers have not yet ascertained who will play Sita. In 2019, Mantena had announced a film on the Mahabharat with Deepika Padukone.
