Hansal calls out Bollywood for not supporting Shilpa Shetty

Even as B-Town prefers to be tight-lipped about the Raj Kundra case and Shilpa Shetty has no support from her own fraternity, Hansal Mehta has come forward in defence of the actor, who is being mercilessly trolled for her husband’s doings. “If you cannot stand up for Shilpa Shetty, leave her alone, and let the law decide. Allow her some dignity and privacy. It is unfortunate that people in public life are left to fend for themselves and are proclaimed guilty even before justice is meted out,” the filmmaker tweeted. He also lashed out at the industry for keeping mum. “This silence is a pattern. In good times, everybody parties together. In bad times, there is deafening silence, isolation. No matter what the ultimate truth is, the damage is already done.” He further added, “This vilification is a pattern. If the allegations are against a film person there is a rush to invade privacy, to pass sweeping judgment, to character assassinate, to fill ‘news’ with trashy gossip—all at the cost of individuals and their dignity. This is the cost of silence.”
