Aamir Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Akshay Kumar
Aamir Khan announced yesterday that since they won’t be able to complete Laal Singh Chaddha in time, they’re moving the release from April 14 to August 11 this year. Earlier in the afternoon, he met Bhushan Kumar to request him to spare the date, previously booked for the producer’s Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan-starrer Adipurush. Soon afterwards, the makers of Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey grabbed the Baisakhi date. Initially slated to arrive on December 31, 2021, it was deferred after several states asked for cinemas to halt operations to contain the spread of COVID-19. On April 14, Jersey will clash with southern star Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2, also starring Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon. Interestingly, August 11, will see Aamir’s Laal Singh Chaddha face-off with Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan, helmed by Aanand L Rai.
