After splurging her with lavish gifts and flights on private jets, alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar is said to have told Jacqueline Fernandez that he would produce a female superhero franchise for her. He reportedly promised that a Hollywood crew would be on board for the high-octane actioner. Chandrasekhar, who was clued into film production, would tell her that she deserved to be a part of a big-budget international venture. Chandrasekhar is the prime accused in a Rs 200 crore extortion case.

ED summons Aishwarya
On Monday, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in New Delhi in connection with the 2016 Panama Papers global tax leaks case. She was questioned about the allegations of stashing wealth abroad under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999. The Panama Papers pertain to leaked documents that point towards fraud and tax evasion by world leaders and celebrities across the globe.
Second outing
Salman Khan announced that a sequel to Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) is in the works. It was written by KV Vijayendra Prasad and helmed by Kabir Khan. While attending an event for SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film, RRR, the superstar said he has a “strong bond” with Rajamouli, as his father had penned his much-loved blockbuster. Bajrangi Bhaijaan saw Khan’s character embark on a journey to take a speech-impaired kid back to her hometown in Pakistan. The child actor Harshaali Malhotra is now a teenager. Khan reportedly advised her to prep herself for a big Bollywood film. Will the second part be the one?
Title mil gaya
The title of Shakun Batra’s directorial venture starring Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday, has been revealed. The film, about complicated modern relationships, is called Gehraiyaan. It will release on Amazon Prime on January 25. The buzz is that Karan Johar’s production took the digital route to avoid problems with the censors for the bold scenes.
Dutt’s pleas to Nagpurians
As Munna Bhai MBBS clocked 18 years on Sunday, Sanjay Dutt appealed to fans in Nagpur to convince director Rajkumar Hirani to begin work on the third part. While speaking at the Khasdar Sanskrutik Mahotsav, the actor said, “I am tired of telling him. As Raju Hirani is from Nagpur, I appeal to Nagpurians to press him for making Munna Bhai 3.” The filmmaker is planning a project with Shah Rukh Khan, so Dutt will have to wait.
Easy climb
Kajol could not hide her joy about trekking by foot to the Vaishno Devi shrine. The actor, accompanied by friends, scaled the 12 km climb from Katra. “See that crazy exhilarated look in my eyes.. so happy that I’m almost high. Climb that mountain... Vaishnodevi... grateful and humbled,” wrote the actor.

Tusshar Kapoor turns author with Bachelor Dad, which chronicles how he took “an unconventional road to fatherhood that raised several questions”. The actor became a single parent to son Laksshya via surrogacy in 2016. The book, published by Penguin, releases next month. Kapoor hopes the book inspires people to be more “honest and a little braver”.
Away from the competition
If the industry grapevine is to be believed, Kangana Ranaut is doing a rethink about the release of her action thriller, Dhaakad. Razneesh Ghai’s film hits theatres on April 8, 2022. While it is not clashing with any other film on the day, the following week two biggies are lined up — the multilingual KGF: Chapter 2, starring South actor Yash and Sanjay Dutt, and Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha. With both taking over most screens, Dhaakad will have a limited run. It makes sense to release at a later date.
Throwback times
On Monday, Taimur’s fifth birthday celebrations were low-key as mommy dearest Kareena Kapoor Khan is self-isolating after contracting the Coronavirus. Sara Ali Khan shared a throwback picture from her birthday in August with Saif Ali Khan and Tim, and wrote, “Happy birthday Tim Tim. Wishing you toys, chocolates, laughter, happiness and love.” Soha Ali Khan also wished nephew Taimur. She wrote, “We are missing you immensely but will see you and celebrate together soon.” Bebo is keen to host a belated birthday bash for Taimur as soon as she recovers.
