Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel-starrer 'Gadar 2' is just a day away from its theatrical release. The film has already gathered momentum at the box office as it eyes a massive opening day. Director Anil Sharma has now said that the film did not have too high a budget as the makers agreed to put a major part of the budget into production. He also revealed that Sunny Deol cut down his fees for the film. Deol reprises his role of Tara Singh in the film while Ameesha Patel reprises the role of Sakina.

During an interview with Lehren Retro, Anil Sharma was asked if he could reveal the budget of the film. The director initially hesitated and said that ZEE (Studios, the producer of Gadar 2) would be the better people to talk about it.

"Log market me 80, 100, 150 bolte hain. Aisa kuch nahi hai, usase kam hai (People talk about figures of ₹80, 100 or 150 crore but our budget is nothing like that. It is much less)," he said.

Utkarsh Sharma who played the role of Tara and Sakina's son in the first instalment of Gadar will also be seen playing their son in the sequel. He, too, was present at the interview and said that the technicians and most actors in the film agreed that maximum budget of he film should be allotted to production.

When asked if Sunny Deol's fees would be what it is, Anil said, "That is just one person, we managed that. And, to tell you the truth, even he reduced his fees a lot. These days, the actors' and directors' fees are too high, shooting the budget of films to ₹500-600 crore. Out of those, ₹150 or ₹200 crore is the hero's share. What we thought was, to put the money in production."

Utkarsh and Anil also revealed that they kept the action sequences real and cut down on VFX costs. The Indian army also offered support to the team and gave their vehicles, tanks, and soldiers as well as locations for the shoot.

Earlier, while talking about the action sequences, Anil Sharma had said, “I don’t consider it old-school action. It’s raw action. Look at some of Tom Cruise’s stunts in the Mission Impossible series or Nolan’s Oppenheimer, even in the US, artistes are striving to keep things real and that’s what I wanted to do.” He adds, “During the making of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, we meticulously choreographed real-life action scenes to deliver an authentic experience that was embraced by the audience. With Gadar 2, we were committed to preserving that same level of authenticity. The film boasts of real action scenes and not just VFX. Our goal was to revisit the golden era of Indian cinema and uphold the film’s legacy.”

Gadar 2 will hit the theatres on August 11 and will be clashing at the box office with Akshay Kumar-starrer 'OMG 2' .
