Ashoke Pandit, in a recent turn of events, has filed an FIR against a Twitter user known as Dr.  Nimo Yadav, who operates under the handle @NiravModi. This comes as a response to allegations of spreading fake news regarding the health of the known filmmaker, The incident has reportedly left many friends and family of the filmmaker deeply concerned.


According to a report by ETimes, the First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against Dr. Nimo Yadav at Mumbai's Juhu police station. Ashoke Pandit, who is a former member of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), had also appealed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to initiate legal action against the accused.


Ashoke Pandit, to express his gratitude for the swift action of the Mumbai Police,  emphasized the importance of identifying and arresting the person responsible for creating panic by disseminating rumors via their Twitter account, as well as for impersonating him through a fraudulent account. "I thank Mumbai police for their immediate action against the said person by filing an FIR against him," stated Ashoke Pandit.


Notably, several prominent film industry bodies, including the Federation of Western India Cine Association (FWICE), the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA), and the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA), have rallied in support of Ashoke Pandit and vehemently condemned the actions of Dr. Nimo Yadav.

Dr. Nimo Yadav, who operates the said Twitter account, has been described as a Benguluru-based individual with various interests, including being an athlete, research analyst, ex-Ranji player, cricket expert, and sports journalist. However, with all that’s happened, his information is not to be trusted. 

Ashoke Pandit, who serves as the president of the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association, has recently been in the spotlight for his response to allegations made by Tamil actor Vishal. Vishal accused certain officials from the CBFC of accepting a bribe of ₹6.5 lakh in exchange for granting censor certification to the Hindi version of his film Mark Antony.

Ashoke Pandit clarified that the individuals named by Vishal are not employees of the CBFC and thus called for a thorough investigation into the matter. He also pressed for a "CBI inquiry" into the allegations, highlighting their gravity.
