Pavail, who has to attain a brawny physique for cop role in Deva, on how he upped his strength training and went on calorie-surplus diet

Bigger is better

Shahid Kapoor and Pavail Gulati

Last month, the makers of Deva announced that Pavail Gulati would play a tough-as-nails cop in the Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde-starrer. We hear the actor has hit the gym with a vengeance to attain a brawny physique for his role in director Rosshan Andrrews’ action fare. In addition, Gulati, a self-proclaimed foodie, has had to alter his diet to supplement the physical transformation. A source from his fitness team says, “We’ve combined a rigorous strength-training routine and a calorie-surplus diet that is rich in lean proteins, carbohydrates, and healthy fats. He has been focussing on compound exercises like squats, deadlifts, and bench presses to stimulate muscle growth. As far as his diet is concerned, we are prioritising protein sources such as lean meats and supplements to support muscle repair.”

Sharing screen space with fitness enthusiast Kapoor has further motivated Gulati to attain his goal. He says, “Playing a cop demands physical and mental dedication. I believe in maintaining a healthy balance in my lifestyle, and this includes my fitness routine and diet.”
