Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, has been making headlines ever since its trailer release. With the sizzling on-screen pairing of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, audiences are eagerly anticipating this romantic comedy. However, amidst the excitement, controversy struck as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recently certified the film with a fair share of cuts.

The trailer itself had garnered massive attention, giving viewers a glimpse into the intriguing chemistry between Rocky and Rani. It portrayed their struggles to win over each other's families, setting the stage for a rollercoaster of emotions. But with the CBFC certification, some unexpected alterations had to be made.

One of the major changes was the replacement of an abusive word with 'behan di,' which led to a public debate about creative freedom and censorship. Additionally, the renowned rum brand, Old Monk, was renamed as 'Bold Monk,' leading to mixed reactions from fans and brand enthusiasts alike.

The CBFC further demanded the removal of the term 'Lok Sabha,' a reference that stirred curiosity among the audience. The scene featuring a portrait of Noble Laureate Rabindranath Tagore at Rani's house underwent modifications as well. A particular word was replaced with 'Koi filter,' leaving moviegoers puzzled and speculating about the context. Moreover, a dialogue mentioning West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, was asked to be deleted, raising eyebrows about the extent of political influence on creative expression. In another scene set in a lingerie shop, the word 'bra' was substituted with 'item,' sparking discussions about moral policing and societal taboos.

Despite the controversy, the film boasts a stellar cast that fans are eagerly looking forward to. The chemistry between Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt had previously dazzled audiences in the critically acclaimed ‘Gully Boy’, With director Karan Johar returning to the directorial chair after seven years, expectations for a cinematic masterpiece are high.

Adding to the intrigue are veteran actors Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi, portraying pivotal roles in the movie. Bengali film industry stars, Churni Ganguly and Tota Roy Chowdhury, are set to play crucial roles as members of Alia Bhatt's family, adding to the anticipation surrounding their performances. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani promises a blend of drama, romance, and laughter, creating a mesmerizing cinematic experience. However, with the CBFC cuts causing a stir, the film's release has become an intriguing battleground between artistic freedom and societal norms.

The film's scheduled release on July 28, 2023, has piqued the curiosity of cinephiles, who are eager to witness the unfolding of this dramatic tale. As the anticipation continues to build, audiences remain divided over the CBFC's involvement, questioning whether the cuts have preserved the essence of the movie or hindered its artistic vision.
