Makers of Saif-Rani’s Bunty Aur Babli 2 reimagine the original title track as an homage to the 2005 instalment
Khan, Chaturvedi and Sharvari join Mukerji in the upcoming sequel
Bunty Aur Babli 2 comes with something old and something new. Where the second instalment of the franchise sees Saif Ali Khan, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari join Rani Mukerji as part of the cast, it also pays homage to the spirit of the 2005 original. The makers have reimagined the title track from the Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan-led con caper — this time around, Siddharth Mahadevan and Punjabi rapper Bohemia have gone behind the mic to render the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy composition. The lyrics of the recreated version have been penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Mukerji, who featured in the 2005 ditty, is happy to do an encore. “Right from the moment the studio decided to make Bunty Aur Babli 2, they were sure [about] incorporating the title track from the original film, even though our movie is rebooting the franchise. The original tune was the soul of the first film,” she says. Khan adds that director Varun V Sharma has seamlessly woven the track in the comedy. “It represents both pairs of Bunty and Babli as con couples who love living on the edge.”
For Chaturvedi, the track holds nostalgic value. “It evokes so many memories of watching the film with my family,” he says, while Sharvari believes the song adds “a dose of retro cool.”
