To mark the centenary of Indian cinema in 2013, filmmakers Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee directed four short films that summed up 'Bombay Talkies'. The film garnered critical acclaim and was screened at the Cannes International Film Festival. Four years later, the directors are reuniting for a sequel.

Co-produced by Ashi Dua and Ronnie Screwvala, the film is still at a nascent stage, as the four have just begun pre-production. A source from the production house says, "Since the concept was a hit, it was long playing in the makers' minds to get the four of them together once again. Ashi and Ronnie briefly discussed the concept and felt it would be a good idea [to pursue it]. The directors, when approached, instantly agreed to come on board."

The film will undergo a name change. "Last time, the movie paid tribute to the illustrious span of movies in this country. This time round, it revolves around love and lust. It should start rolling in a few months and will release later this year," says the source, adding that cast for the movie is currently being finalised.

While Ronnie remained unavailable for comment, his spokesperson confirms the news.
