After battling Covid-19 in April and seeing the toll it takes on one’s body, Bhumi Pednekar wasted no time in launching Covid Warrior, a social media initiative that identifies and sources hospital beds, oxygen and plasma for those affected. As the second wave of the pandemic rages on in India, the actor is ramping up her efforts to save as many lives as possible. Now, she has teamed up with spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and The Art of Living Foundation for Mission Zindagi.

The pan-India initiative has volunteers serving the virus-hit in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata and other cities. The relief programme has seven verticals, beginning with hospital updates related to the availability of oxygen and non-oxygen beds, connecting ambulances for emergencies, and arrangement of oxygen cylinders’ and concentrators’ donation. It also aids home-isolated patients, who are showing mild symptoms, by providing on-call doctor consultation. Putting an emphasis on mental well-being in such trying times, the endeavour has roped in mental health professionals who organise virtual meditation and yoga workshops and provide counselling.

Pednekar notes that the services provided by her initiative have been further bolstered by the wide network of Mission Zindagi. “India has been going through a critical time as we are battling the worst phase of the pandemic. It’s important for all of us to unite and help each other in this moment of crisis. Covid Warrior is close to my heart, and with Gurudev’s help, we can help so many more people across the country,”
she says.

The spiritual leader adds that through the programme, he aims to restore the “physical health, mental health and vibrancy of our people.”
