Karan Johar's directorial comeback, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, is winning hearts globally. One of the key highlights of the family rom-com is the songs. While Tum Kya Mile, What Jhumka and Ve Kamleya were appreciated, Kudmayi stayed in the audience's minds for the longest time. The wedding song composed by Pritam played in the end credits. It is picturised on Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.
Kudmayi was officially released on Dharma Productions' YouTube channel today. It was launched at a press conference in Mumbai. During the interaction with the media, Karan shared an anecdote related to the filming of Kudmayi. The filmmaker revealed the song was shot 4 days after Alia's wedding to Ranbir Kapoor.

Karan said, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani ke end mein Rocky (Ranveer) aur Rani (Alia) ki shaadi ho jaati hai. (As Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani ends, Rocky and Rani get married to each other). Alia aur Ranbir Kapoor ki shaadi hui thi aur 4 din baad voh Ranveer ke saath shaadi sequence shoot kar rahi thi. (Alia and Ranbir Kapoor got married and 4 days later, she was shooting for the wedding sequence with Ranveer). Uss hafte mein Alia ne 2 baar shaadi ki (laughs). (Alia got married twice in the same week). Uski shaadi ki mehendi film mein dikh rahi hai bas humne thoda darken kiya. (Her wedding mehendi can be seen in the song, we just darkened it slightly).
Talking about cutting the song from the film, Karan told, "When we faced issues with the length of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, we decided to eliminate Kudmayi from the film. People advised me to keep the runtime under 2 hours 50 minutes. It broke my heart as a filmmaker that I couldn't show the song in its full glory to the audience."
Kudmayi is written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Shahid Mallya is the singer of the song. Vaibhavi Merchant choreographed the song which was shot in Jaisalmer. The song also features Shabana Azmi, Churni Ganguly, Tota Roy Choudhary, Kshitee Jog, Anjali Anand and Aamir Bashir.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, produced by Dharma Productions and Viacom18, released on July 28 and is running successfully in theatres.
