Ali Fazal’s next production venture with Amitosh Nagpal to be a human drama

From banter to blockbuster

Ali Fazal and Amitosh Nagpal

After earning acclaim for his performance in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Khufiya, Ali Fazal is not resting on his laurels. While savouring the success and basking in the appreciation for his role, the actor is busy finalising the next venture for his production house Pushing Buttons Studios, alongside actor-wife Richa Chadha. Their projects—Girls Will Be Girls and The Underbug—are already in the pipeline for release.

For his third production, Fazal is teaming up with longtime friend and actor-writer, Amitosh Nagpal. Their friendship dates back to their collaboration in the Indo-American production, For Here or To Go? (2015). Interestingly, the idea for their new project was born out of a friendly banter on social media, where Fazal humorously claimed that Nagpal had left his script with him. In response, the writer-actor suggested that the actor should keep the script and turn it into a movie, and Fazal decided to take up the challenge.

According to an insider, the two share a unique creative bond, and are excited about the prospect of working together once more. “The script has already got Ali hooked. It is a human drama that will be produced by Ali and Amitosh,” says the insider. Although the project is currently shrouded in mystery, the insider adds, “There’s a strong possibility that Ali will also act in the film. Further details will be revealed once they secure a director and register a title for the project.”
