When we last spoke to Harshvarrdhan Kapoor, he had given himself an ultimatum to take the Abhinav Bindra biopic on floors in 2023 (Time to pull the trigger, December 19). Seven months into the year, Anil Kapoor, who is producing and acting in the film, confirms that their passion project will roll soon. “It is happening. The pre-production is underway. It’s going to be a special film,” he smiles.

The movie, announced in 2017, is an adaptation of the rifle shooter’s autobiography, A Shot at History: My Obsessive Journey to Olympic Gold. While Harshvarrdhan plays the Olympic gold medalist, the senior actor will essay the role of his father. The duo have previously shared screen space in Thar (2022) and AK vs AK (2020), which had Harshvarrdhan in a cameo.

Anil is naturally excited to collaborate with his actor-son again. In fact, he is proud that his three children—Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Rhea Kapoor and Harshvarrdhan —are active artists in the Hindi film industry. He credits them for creating their own identity. “They have a mind of their own, and are not dependent on me in terms of their choices. All of them are individualistic, and have proved themselves.”
