Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Santoshi

It appears that Aamir Khan’s break from acting is set to end soon. He has apparently locked his next, to be helmed by filmmaker-friend Rajkumar Santoshi. The two have previously collaborated on the cult comedy, Andaz Apna Apna (1994). Besides that, Aamir did a cameo in Santoshi’s courtroom drama, Damini (1993). The yet-untitled film marks their creative reunion after almost 30 years. It will be the first of the two movies the director has been signed on to make for Aamir Khan Productions. Details of the subject are being kept under wraps for now, even though prep for the project has begun. Aamir reportedly was bowled over by the subject, and after a series of meetings and discussions with Santoshi, things are said to have been finalised. Filming is scheduled to begin in January 2024 and Aamir is keen to reclaim his Christmas slot in December 2024.

Rumours are rife that Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon are set to reunite on screen after 20 years. The actors, who were one of the most adored on-screen jodis in the 1990s, were last seen together in Police Force: The Inside Story (2004). Akki and Raveena, who delivered hits like Mohra (1994) and Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1996), are said to be collaborating again in the Welcome franchise’s third instalment, titled Welcome to the Jungle. While not much is known about their characters yet, industry sources claim that producer Firoz Nadiadwala’s casting coup is sure to pique audience’s curiosity.

Taking the story forward

Taking the story forward

Four years ago, Ajay Devgn played a 50-year-old businessman Ashish Mehra, in love with a 26-year-old Ayesha Khurana (played by Rakul Preet Singh) in De De Pyaar De. Now, it looks like the actor is gearing up to take the narrative forward with the sequel to Luv Ranjan’s production. The filmmaker and his co-writer Tarun Jain are said to have come up with an apt plot. Since the 2019 movie revolved around Ashish’s family accepting Ayesha, the second instalment centres on how her family reacts to her relationship with a much older and divorced man. This time around, Anshul Sharma will take up the directorial baton from Akiv Ali, who helmed the first outing. If all goes well, Ajay is expected to begin filming De De Pyaar De 2 early next year. By then, he will have almost wrapped up Singham Again with director Rohit Shetty.
