It will be the first time that Akshay Kumar will be featuring in a film with the 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' star Bhumi Pednekar. 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' also marks Akshay and actor Anupam Kher's 20th film together.
The film revolves around the need for toilets for sanitation in India and this message is conveyed through a love story in the film 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'.
In the last few years, Akshay Kumar's image has undergone a transformation from that of an action star to one who chooses films which are socially relevant and delivers a message. 'Special 26', 'Airlift', 'Baby' and the upcoming 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' are cases in point.
There's also 'Pad Man' that Akshay Kumar is doing. The film is a biopic on the man who introduced affordable sanitary napkins for the benefit of women.
'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' will release on August 11.
Imtiaz Ali's next movie 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' -- starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma -- has now been set for release on August 4, thereby averting a box office clash with Akshay Kumar's 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'.
