A religious leader from Mathura has offered Rs 1 crore to anyone, who could bring the tongue of 'Toilet – Ek Prem Katha' director Shree Narayan Singh. The film stars Akshay Kumar and 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' actress Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, Phooldol Behari Dass Maharaj is apparently incensed with the title of the film, which he feels violates a marital tradition of two villages. He has stated during an address at a mahapanchayat of Hindu saints at Mathura's Barsana Village, that anybody who brings the tongue of the director would be get a reward of Rs 1 crore.
Not just him, in fact the under-production, 'Toilet -- Ek Prem Katha' has apprently offended the sentiments of other saints in Mathura, who feel the film's title and storyline should be changed in deference of Lord Krishna and Radha. This is because as per tradition, there is no are no marriages between men and women of Nandgaon and Barsana villages. Lord Krishna they say hailed from Nandgaon, while Radha was from Barsana. Some locals believe that the film's story revolves around marriage links between Nandgaon and Barsana villages of Mathura.
Director Shree Narayan Singh, has however refuted allegations that 'Toilet -- Ek Prem Katha' offends religious sentiments.
'Toilet -- Ek Prem Katha' is a satirical film based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.'
