The world's walking the ramp, right here, right now

FYIu00a0gets you all the action from the first day of the Oxybleach India International Fashion Week that kicked off in the capital yesterday

What:
If you thought Delhi was finally done with all those fashion weeks, well, here's news.u00a0 The Oxybleach India International Fashion Week '09 is introducingu00a0 12 international designers on the Indian runway. Names include Ramon Gurillo from Spain, Monica Paracha from Pakistan, Chen Cohen from Israel, Mustafa Hassanali from Tanzania, Tina Haagensen from Norway, Wallid Attalah from Dubai, Catalin Botezatu from Romania, Cristina Nitopi from Australia, Rudy Wolff from Norway and Andres Aquino from USA.

Where: Crowne Plaza Today, Gurgaon
When: December 3-5

Spanish show-all

The first show started with a great delay, but proved quite a sight. Indian Standard Time took over the otherwise GMT adherers, we guess. Spanish designer Ramon Gurillo showcased the collections, which, according to him, were "for the modern and contemporary woman of today". Firangs strutted down the ramp in intricate knitwear that didn't leave much to the imagination. Rich creams, sandy beiges, blues and chalks gave away lots. The guy was on his second visit here, and sure knew what sells!

Taj in the backstage

Slovakian model Eva, who reached India Wednesday morning, was quite excited about having visited the Taj Mahal on the same day. "I am so happy to have been to Agra and seen one of the Seven Wonders of the World. I had heard so much about it, I jumped at the thought of visiting it the first thing!" she smiled. On the other hand, Spanish model Mayte was getting envious. She asked Eva about the finer details, like commuting time and the right time to visit the Taj. "If we leave early morning around 4, can we be back by the noon?" she asked us. And you thought all models did was make mischief!

Dorothy & disco

The second show, by Norway-based designer Tina Haagensen, had three different ranges on ramp.u00a0 Her lines were called 'Dorothy goes to Japan', 'All those memories' and 'The Little Disco Fairy Princess.'u00a0 Pinks, yellows and blues dominated the playful creations in fine silks, soft jerseys and dreamy chiffons. "I am feeling completely at home here. I don't know much about Indian fashion, and hence, don't expect too much." Compliment or criticism, that?

God goes glam as day ends

Kolkata-based sister duo Mona Lamba and Pali Sachdev stole the last hour. What took the cake was a line of paintings of Indian Gods that had served as the inspiration. The lords looked lovely, in kaftans and sarees, jumpsuits and even wall-hangings. An elegant mix of contrasting colours, checks and cuts. Thank God they're back on scene.
