After an eventful year that saw her being honoured with a National Award, Sonam Kapoor is raring to go with a busy 2018. With four outings in the pipeline, including Akshay Kumar-starrer Padman, Rajkumar Hirani's Sanjay Dutt biopic, and an untitled venture with father Anil, the actor has a lot to look forward to. Understandably, she is the most excited about Veere Di Wedding.

The chick flick, also starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, is among the few mainstream outings to explore the relationships between women. "I am hoping that the audience comes to watch it," she says, knowing that her film will be pitted against successful male-bonding dramas like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) and Dil Chahta Hai (2001). "It's important to understand that even women can helm lead roles and deliver wholesome entertainers," says Kapoor, as she gears up to carry a film on her shoulders in a largely male-dominated industry.
Unfortunate as it is, chatter about contention between two female actors while shooting for a film based on girl bonding can't be avoided. Kapoor too finds herself battling suggestions of animosity towards Khan. "There is no truth to them," she cuts in, adding, "Kareena is among my closest friends. We have fantastic chemistry. It is important to work with someone you can connect with." Only recently, the fashionista walked the ramp at the 2017 Blenders Pride Fashion Tour. One to often spread the message about body positivity, Kapoor says fashion for her is "about being you and not imitating another."
