The action hots up in the semi-final round

SFL knockouts

With the semi-finals’ two elimination rounds underway, the action on SFL Challengers is going to the next level with the fighters improving with each passing training session. Half-way through the elimination rounds, the fighters who have still to fight, had a fair idea about what others did wrong in earlier bouts. And, more importantly, they had sufficient training that earlier contestants didn’t before stepping into the cage.

This week again we had two interesting fights with the Randomizer (fight selection software) throwing up another set of interesting combinations with SFL chairman, Raj Kundra, on the sidelines to monitor the action upfront. He was joined by celebrity guests, actor Ronit Roy and Australian cricketer Shaun Tait.

First up was the female bout between Priyanka Sharma and Priya that arguably had the surprise of the night with the first knockout victory the show has witnessed so far. Priyanka went into the fight with the game plan of finishing off her opponent quickly and executed the same perfectly by knocking out Priya in the first round itself.

Priyanka started the round assertively by controlling the distance with straight punches and body kicks. Even though Priya managed to cut down the distance, Priyanka was successful in landing several vicious blows to her opponent with a final head kick knocking Priya out for good. Next up was the male bout that had again put up a quintessential stand up fighter, Krishan Singh Rawat, against a ground controller, Andrew Canday.

The first round started with Krishan coming out of the blocks aggressively attempting several quick punches however Andrew smartly had his defence sorted and successfully negated Krishan’s blows. Frustrated with his lack of success with striking, Krishan manages to take Andrew down but it eventually signals the start of the end for him as Andrew displays his superior ground game to take control and get on top dishing out severe punishment.

The first round ended with Krishan bleeding from a cut on his forehead which resulted in him being a bit more cautious in the second round but still couldn’t manage to get an upper hand as again Andrew ended the round on top due to his grappling superiority. The last round too had the similar outcome with Andrew finishing strongly winning the fight via unanimous decision and moving onto the next round.

Tune in to watch the last elimination round this Saturday and Sunday at 9 pm on Neo Prime and 10 pm on Zoom
