In his trademark candid style, Rishi Kapoor on his wish to see Ranbir Kapoor tie the knot and why he can't broach the subject with him
Rishi Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor
Rishi Kapoor has been generous with his praise for Ranbir Kapoor's performance in Sanju. Proud as he is that his son has achieved so much success in his career, the veteran hopes that Ranbir devotes as much time to his personal life as well.

One can see glimpses of the protective parent in him as he says, "It is high time he got married. I settled down when I was 27, Ranbir is 35. So he should think about marriage. He can marry anyone of his choice; we don't have any objection to it. I want to spend time with my grandchildren before I am gone."
The senior actor, who will soon be seen in Mulk, understands that the demanding nature of showbiz leaves little place for personal life. "[Be it] Ranbir or his contemporaries, actors have blinkers on and are focused on their work. The only women they meet are the actresses. They don't socialise as much; that is the flipside of life in the movies."
Rishi, who has often admitted that he is more of a disciplinarian than a friend to his son, says that the distance between them discourages him from broaching the subject with him. "I haven't been vocal about it, but my wife [Neetu Kapoor] keeps bringing it up with him and he just brushes the question away. Whenever he is ready for it, we will be happy. Our happiness lies in his happiness, after all."
After opening up on his relationship with Alia Bhatt earlier this year, Ranbir has been making frequent public appearances with his ladylove. His mother Neetu too has made her fondness for Bhatt known, on several occasions. Ask Rishi about the lovebirds and he says, "Jo hai woh hai, sabko pata hai. I don't need to say anything more."
