His compilation of three crime-thriller novellas is an attempt “to talk about those trying to find justice within a crumbling, morally ambiguous environment”. In a chat with CS, the filmmaker speaks about his love for writing, films and the film capital of the country:
Professional hurdles
Directing a film is like managing a team or commanding an army where one has to deal with hundreds of different personalities while trying to be true to one’s vision. Writing on the other hand is a lonely process. But then, films are for Fridays whereas books are forever.
Crime and the city
My characters are those who in their heart of hearts want to step away from crime but the pulls and pushes of this city suck them into crime.
Personal favourites
When it comes to literary crime, Jefferey Archer, Lee Child, Frederick Forsyth shall always remain my favourite international writers. There aren’t too many amongst the contemporary national writers but I do like the translations of the Feluda series by Satyajit Ray.u00a0
