Co-producers T-Series walk out of PPC's 8X10 Tasveer

Percept Picture Company's 8X10 Tasveer has now hit a new roadblock. Co-producers T-Series have backed out of the project.

The film stars Akshay Kumar and Ayesha Takia in the lead and is directed by Nagesh Kukunoor.

An industry source says, "When the film was conceptualised, Percept and T-Series got into a multi-film deal. The first film off of this deal was 8X10 Tasveer.

It was meant to be a quickie but somehow the film kept getting delayed and pushed back. Because of all these issues, the film went way over-budget."

Heavy price

The source further adds, "Now that the film is up for release, T-Series didn't see an encouraging enough return on their investment.

That's one of the reasons why they contemplated leaving the feature and even scrapping the entire multi-film deal.

Buzz is, Percept paid a heavy price for T-Series walking away from the film; compensation was claimed for all funds the co-producers put into the film."

Says Shailendra Singh (Head-PPC), "T-Series were never our partners. They had an option initially and co-produced the film, but as they were not active in production I thought I should keep the movie at Percept so we could exploit it ourselves. T-Series is still the film's music company of the film, though."
