Classical call
Strengthening my classical base Being in the Bollywood playback industry now, I feel the need to improve my Hindustani classical base everyday. It is not my strong point. I haven’t been practicing enough, but I do plan to. I also want to improve my vocal range. It’s important for a singer to be able to sing a variety of songs.
My freedom to choose
I was always given the freedom to choose. I am so grateful to my parents to have given me an open field with a lot of variety to pick from. I didn’t get into classical music because it didn’t interest me much. My love for Popular English music was always greater right from the start.
Marathi calling
My parents, aunts, older cousins have sung a lot of Marathi songs from their times around me. So I know those songs. But the present day Marathi songs are the ones I am not tuned in to. I haven’t watched a lot of Marathi films in my life. I don’t really know why (smiles). I do want to listen to more Marathi music now though.u00a0
