Before Ranveer Singh flew to London on a break, Sanjay Leela Bhansali shot the film's climax scene in Mumbai. It had Deepika Padukone aka Padmavati immolate herself along with women of her kingdom to escape capture by Khilji [Ranveer]. To shoot the scene, Bhansali hired 300 female junior artistes, while Ranveer Singh had 50-odd soldiers by his side.

The actor had to don an armour, almost seven kilos heavy, and shoot in it for several hours. To create a smoke-and-fire ambience, a large number of gunny bags were set ablaze.
