Having played in India for the fifth time at the Sunburn 2017 last week, Belgian DJ duo Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike (DVLM) credit the energy of music aficionados in India for bringing them back. "Our fans bring us back. India is amazing, and we love the people. Their support blows us away," said Mike on the sidelines of their gig in Pune.
The duo spends a fair part of the year touring for shows. Yet, a sense of weariness is never visible in their acts. The routine, they say, never tires them. Vegas says, "We love to party with our fans. It's our passion. Touring can be difficult, because being on the road impacts our health and sleep patterns. But, we choose to do it because we love it."
Taking the time to unwind, Mike says, also enables them to deliver something new each time they step on stage. "We make certain that we live a healthy life and enjoy the downtime. This helps us rejuvenate before each show. Whether it's cooking a meal for the tour team, or chilling out and watching a movie, we are certain to unwind frequently." The duo has been promoting their single, Complicated, with David Guetta and Kiiara, and revels that with this track, they've scored a hat-trick on the Billboard chart. "It has become the No. 1 single on the Billboard Dance Club Chart in the US, making it our third consecutive single to top the chart," Vegas reveals excitedly. "We also have some big records coming up this year. We will announce a new single on social media soon."
A back-to-back travel routine means less hours inside the studio. However, the limited time spent in creating music doesn't restrict their ideas. "We are always working on ideas. Sometimes, it's easy to do that inside a studio. But, when you're touring as much as we do, working on the road is a great way to keep the music ideas flowing."
While it was reported last year that DVLM would collaborate with Salman Khan on a project, Vegas says the association has fallen apart due to their busy schedule. "But, we're grateful to Salman for his support and friendship, and hope to work with him someday."
