What's it about: Mike Chadway teaches Abby Richter how to look sexy and woo the perfect man Colin, who she first meets when she's upside down hanging from a tree, just as he drops the only piece of cloth on him - a towel. Abby's the producer of the television show, the Ugly Truth and Mike the anchor, is roped in by the management to raise the TRPs, because they think he gives them what people want to see. Abby and her colleagues think Mike sucks at his job, while the whole world thinks otherwise. Her handsome neighbour surgeon Colin, who she thinks is near perfect and confronts Mike who thinks such men don't exist. "No such thing as a good one," feels Mike.
The quick droll will leave you in splits with its witty, yet sometimes smutty take on sex, pleasures, orgasms and how holding to your principles will take you nowhere. Mike believes men have their organs, and women should love them, even if they have to try hard with push-up bras. When Mike urges Abby to flick her beans she feels it's not the real thing, he tells her to always fake an orgasm with a man. So, the woman who's not seen a man in practically a year, starts seeing things differently, grows her blonde hair, wears lingerie that make her body talk and slides into 'fake orgasm is better than no orgasm at all'. But, is she actually faking? Abby calls Mike a manwhore, who prefers women in slutty clothes, while he tries to turn her around and how. The woman who was once aghast with the word vibrator, utters the word cock at the drop of a hat. The woman who is a normal control freak, and who keeps knocking on Mike's words of wisdom, but at the back of her mind knows he's good, doesn't want to accept that his not-so-straight ways are so right.u00a0u00a0
Finally, when they reach their moment of truth, Colin surprises her with a romantic evening; the problem is she is expecting someone else at that time. And when Abby asks him why he likes her; he says it is because she's not a control freak, like all other women are. That's when she realizes that was only because she was following Mike's instructions to woo this man, and that she was faking it all this time. Mike quits and joins a competitor television producer who's a guy this time, he says, "The good thing is that this time I'm not thinking of having sex with you."
What's hot: The climax scene of the film is the best and something to watch out for and we're not telling you what happens there. It's for you to watch and find out if their ego comes in the way, or if they kiss and make up. For those who loved 'When Harry met Sally' will fall for this one too and might like to draw comparisons. This isn't one of those chick flicks though; your man will like to watch it too. Good for a light-hearted watch.
What's not: A few dumb interludes in some places, which are completely unnecessary.
