After roping in Shraddha Kapoor to star opposite Shahid Kapoor in 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu', the hunt for the second female lead is finally over. Though names like Vaani Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and many others kept floating around, the makers have zeroed on Yami Gautam.
The actress took to Twitter to share the news with her fans. She wrote, "Super happy to commence this special journey with @kriarj on 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu' Really excited for this one #Prerna #Shree @shahidkapoor @ShraddhaKapoor (sic)."
Earlier, there were strong speculations of Katrina Kaif being roped in for the film. However, the actress apparently didn't take up the project citing date issues.
'Batti Gul Meter Chalu' will be directed by Shree Narayan Singh, who previously helmed 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'. The project will be co-produced by T-Series and KriArj Entertainment.
Shahid Kapoor
It's for the first time that Yami and Shahid will be sharing screen space together. Shraddha and Shahid Kapoor have already worked together in the critically acclaimed film, 'Haider'.
