Kareena Kapoor's X'mas tree will come specially shipped in from the UK
Kareena Kapoor was in London recently to promote her film Kurbaan. While there, she indulged in shopping at Harrods. As it is just a month before Christmas, the stores are filled with goodies to woo the early holiday season shoppers.
Christmas has always been big for the Kapoor sisters as their maternal grandmother was a Christian. They always have turkey dinner at their home and a get-together to celebrate the festival.
Tree's company
This time when Bebo was in the UK, she fell in love with a huge fir tree and decided to ship it back, instead of having an artificial tree in their parlour.
She giggles, "I am very excited about the natural fir tree I chose from Harrods. They have a wonderful Christmas department there. I did all my X'mas shopping there. For the last 20 years, we've had Christmas plum pudding shipped from there, as it's my mom's favourite and the best in this world. Normally, we have fake fir trees for Christmas at home. They are not too large and look synthetic. So when I saw this huge, beautiful, lush green, natural tree, I couldn't resist it! I bought it and had it shipped back through Karan's production team as I couldn't carry it back myself."
Bada din
For Kareena, celebrating Christmas every year in a big way, is a tradition. Last year, her family (with beau Saif Ali Khan) attended midnight mass and then had a Christmas dinner. This year, the day will be more special as her film 3 Idiots is releasing on December 25. She says, "I think Raju Hirani is a brilliant director and I can't wait for the film to release and see how people think about my character."
Bebo's hairy tales
While shooting for Kurbaan, director Rensil D'Silva wanted Kareena to shampoo her hair for a scene. Kareena says, "I wear a veil in the film but for that shot Rensil didn't want a veil. If I went back to the hotel, shampooed and came back it would have taken two hours and they didn't have so much time as they had permission to shoot in the subway for only a short time. So I said I'd somehow manage and they made a makeshift tub and I washed my hair there in minus 18-degree temperature. I have never done it before but there was a crew of 120 unit members waiting and I couldn't let them down."
