The multiplex vs producers and exhibitors strike has not just affected the movie business but now is also affecting other departments.

There's no point
Informs Sajid, "Because of the strike and embargo thereof on new releases in multiplexes, we are not allowed to screen any trailers anywhere or release audio cassettes of new releases. For Cannes, we needed to be there for the worldwide coverage of our trailers which would also be aired on Indian TV channels. But now, we can't release trailers of upcoming releases, so there's no point in going to Cannes."
The producer is disappointed, "I would be a hypocrite if I said otherwise. This would have been my first trip to Cannes. I was going there to showcase Kambakkht Ishq, a big films in terms of cast, crew and location and it has been shot in Universal studios."
Taqleef hai...
He adds, "Akshay, Kareena and I were really looking forward to our trip and to walking the red carpet. But these are minor disappointments compared to the larger picture where everyone in the film industry benefits. Thoda taqleef hota hai but if the multiplexes agree to 50-50 revenue-sharing in the long run, it will prove to be beneficial to the film fraternity. Ultimately we all belong to the same family and no personal interest is above the interests of all."
Sajid was planning to fly down Hollywood stars Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richars who star in Kambakkht Ishq to Cannes.
Skippers' ball: No IPL, too!
Sajid Nadiadwala and Kambakkht Ishq stars Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor and director Saabbir Khan were to fly to Johannesburg, South Africa for the IPL finals on May 24, where the stars were to perform. That too has been cancelled because of the strike.
According to the terms laid down, a producer can't release the music of his film too. Sajid had planned to release the music of the film after Akki and Bebo's performances. He can't do that and so their performances too, stand cancelled. Akshay and Kareena's dates were kept on hold. Now, with the strike continuing, they have been told to go ahead with their own plans.
