It wouldn't be wrong for us to say that organic is the new bridal fashion. That's the sentiment we saw reverberating after the Mona Pali show in Aamby Valley India Bridal Week 2010 in association with Gitanjali Group. The designer duo made nature their muse and showcased their organic collection, which was enhanced with awe-inspiring jewellery from Nakshatra. The result -- simply fabulous.

The colours of the collection were borrowed from birds like peacock, parrot, pigeon with shades of blues, greens, blacks and greys. The colour accents were in pink and turquoise, while the entire ensemble displayed shades of red, white and beige as primary colours, as seen in flowers.

One thing that gave the Mona Pali show a creative distinction was the use of handcrafted fabric. Created out of doris in Madras and Banarasi silk, the fabrics were woven in Kheem Khab, net and chiffon to create a mesh at places and at others it was left loosely looped to create beautiful textures and a play of shadows. And giving it a heavenly look was Nakshatra with its ever-sparkling 'constellation of stars'.

All in all, Mona Pali's free-flowing couture bridal pieces were nonetheless an ode to the magnificent craftsmanship in India and also a display of the creative prowess of this designer duo.
