The poignant subject of a child being torn between parents who don't see eye to eye has been deftly and sensitively handled by filmmakers like Mansoor Khan, in Akele Hum Akele Tum. But it takes special talent to present the same topic in the most drab, yawn inducing manner, and director Tanveer Khan has managed to do just that with Miley Naa Miley Tum

Miley Naa Miley Hum: Insipid Affair

Miley Naa Miley Hum
U; Romance, Drama
Dir: Tanveer Khan

Cast: Kangna Ranaut, Neeru Bajwa, Sagarika Ghatge, Chirag Paswan
Rating: * (out of 5)

Chirag Mehra (Chirag Paswan) spends half his time toiling in his father Mr Mehra (Kabeer Bedi)'s vineyard and the rest of the time in his super-rich mother's (Poonam Dhillon) cushy office, where the two and half staffers' only business is going from one cabin to another looking important, with files in their hands.
In the meanwhile, the story moves at an insipid pace. The fact that Chirag is a wonderful guy is established through his gestures towards poor people etc. The only communication that he has with his father seems to be when the father is glaring down at him asking for various files.

Now Mrs Mehra decides to import a fashion designer bride-to-be (Sagarika Ghatge) for her son, and in retaliation, her husband invites his best friend and his daughter Manpreet (Neeru Bajwa) to trap Chirag into marrying the latter. Caught between two choices, in a flash of brilliance, Chirag points out to a hoarding and declares that he's already in love with the model in the ad, Anishka (Kangna Ranaut). And then the story goes on to tell us how the two finally fall in love ufffdand yawn!

Chirag has a pleasant face and personality that could perhaps help him fit into Bollywood, but he definitely needs better mentoring. As for this film, he comes across as heavily made up and stiff. Kangana Ranaut as a clumsy wannabe actress has done a decent job, that is when she sticks to speaking in Hindi and doesn't mouth English dialogues just to appear hip. In fact, the whole film looks like a vain effort by a wannabe, struggling to get the billionaires' lives right. Sagarika and Neeru have small roles but both have done a good job.

I have a few suggestions for Chirag. Loosen up, go easy on that pink foundation and throw away those blue lenses in the deep sea. No one likes a hero looking pinker than the heroine!
