Late last year, it was reported that Rajkumar Hirani, who is directing Sanjay Dutt’s biopic, would axe all references to the actor’s alleged relationship with Madhuri Dixit. Now, we hear that the actress called up Sanjay recently to be sure that there is no mention of her in the film.

Says a source, “It has been a long time since Madhuri and Sanjay broke up and she, obviously, doesn’t want to revisit those times. So, she called him up to check that the bit about their relationship does not feature in the project. Sanjay assured her that the makers have removed that portion already.”

The two starred in several hit films such as Khalnayak (1993), Saajan (1991) and Sahibaan (1993) among many others. They were rumoured to be in a steady relationship until the actor was arrested and imprisoned for illegal possession of arms in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. That was apparently when they decided to part ways.

Ranbir Kapoor has been signed to essay Sanjay’s role in the biopic and reportedly, the hunt for the two leading ladies, who will play the actor’s first wife, late actress Richa Sharma, and present wife Maanayata, is on.

Sanjay and Madhuri remained unavailable for comment.
