Kohli plans to launch himself as a hero after half the industry refuses his film

For his first film outside of the Yash Raj clan, Kunal Kohli seems to have discovered himself as an actor.

The onetime film critic-turned- director will now essay the lead role in his next film for his own banner Kunal Kohli Productions. The film is meant to be going on floors later this year.

A source in the industry reveals, "Kunal has been facing some casting issues for his film which is being directed by one of his assistants.

As the film is a romantic film, he wanted a certain a fresh and young face for the role.

The director took the subject to various actors in the industry but they all refused to be a part of the project for some reason or the other."

The source further adds, "The filmmaker went to Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan and even Neil Nitin Mukesh for the same role but once they all said no, Kunal and the film's director sat and made some changes in the subject of the film.

After the alterations, the subject demanded a slightly older actor for the main lead and the director even met up with Akshay Kumar for the same. Akki said no because of a dates clash."

"Even after Akki's refusal Kunal didn't lose faith in the story after much brainstorming, has decided to launch himself as the main lead.

They are now on the lookout for an actress," concludes the source.
Kunal's comment on the story? A terse "Untrue".
