Actress Kangana Ranaut says today women are seen taking over different roles in the film industry and she feels this is a sign of women empowerment in the country.
The 29-year-old actress recalled that when she started her career 10 years ago, there were hardly any female editor or assistant director around but that's not the case anymore.
"When I started ten years ago, it used to be rare to find a lady assistant director or a woman editor..."
"But if you go to a film set, it's completely taken over by women now. So these are the women who are inspiring these stories (of women empowerment)," she said at the launch of flagship FitHub store of Reebok India here.
Kangana feels even women's importance as consumers of entertainment has increased tremendously over the years.
When asked if people's mindset has changed regarding girls wearing short clothes, she said, "At least we have put across to people with this thinking that if you want to treat a girl child differently than a male child or you think the girl's character is just about the length of her trousers or skirt, then I think a person deep down should know that how we are judging this person."
Kangana will next be seen in filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj's period drama 'Rangoon'. It also stars Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. The film will hit theatres in February next year.
