"Cinema is a dominant but not the only means to change people's mindset about women," she said at an event on women safety in the national capital.
The 32-year-old actress, who played the role of a young disabled girl in Shonali Bose's coming-of-age drama 'Margarita with a Straw', said, "there is no single source that can mobilise or change the thinking of an entire society.
"Various sources and different mediums appeal to different people just like 'Margarita with a Straw' would appeal to a certain section of society. And that is why we need to continue our struggle at all fronts and through all the possible means," she added.
The 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' actress further said, "We need hundred different types of people doing hundred different types of things in the works that they do at different levels at different places (to bring about the change). There will not be one magic moment, one magic video that is going to change the whole mindset."
According to Kalki, the definition of empowerment is also different.
"Just because I might be more free since I come from a different background doesn't mean I am completely free. I still have my own struggles that I have to face on a daily basis... you are fighting some kind of battle in every way," she said.
