This Canadian singer of Indian origin became a YouTube sensation when her Bollywood covers went viral a couple of years ago. Soon after, she dived into B-Town, crooning chartbusters including Sau Tarah Ke (Dishoom), The Break Up Song (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil) and Gilheriyaan (Dangal).
Now, Jonita Gandhi wants to provide a platform to aspiring musicians.
Ahead of Valentine's Day (February 14), Jonita has launched a contest, inviting amateur singers to come up with their own versions of The Break Up Song. Participants are allowed to give a spin to the track as long as they stick to the original tune and tempo. The best ones will feature in a mashup video on her official YouTube channel.
Says Jonita, "I came across some great dubsmash videos after The Breakup Song released. So, I look forward to the entries for this contest. This will be the first time I interact with my fans this way."
