While comparisons to mom Sridevi are inevitable, Janhvi Kapoor, says father Boney Kapoor, is not attempting to follow in her mother's footsteps. Ahead of the newbies acting debut in Karan Johar's Dhadak, Boney says, "Janhvi has her own individuality. Fortunately, she is not trying to be [like] her mom. Sridevi has been an iconic figure. Why should Janhvi ape her?" In what may double up as advice, Boney says Janhvi will benefit if she aspires to create her own identity in Bollywood. "If she has to make a mark, she should be herself. She is sensible, intelligent and hardworking. She is sincere towards her work, and will create a niche for herself."

The producer says he is content with the manner in which Dhadak, also featuring Shahid Kapoor's brother Ishaan Khatter, is shaping up. "I was in Udaipur for a day and it's going well. Janhvi was filming a song, and it looked fantastic. I have also seen the stills and pictures. They look good."
Dhadak, the Hindi remake of Nagraj Manjule's much-acclaimed Marathi venture Sairat, will mark Khatter's Bollywood debut, after he featured in Majid Majidi's Beyond The Clouds.
