Artist Vinita Karim is super excited. And it's not without a reason. The lady, who has been doing shows across the globe for over 20 years, is exhibiting for the first time in Mumbai. Her art exhibition, Nomadic Colours, starts today at Museum Art Gallery, Kala Ghoda. Vinita talks about her work:
Egg me on
In Nomadic Colours, I'm showcasing 40 paintings and seven large fibreglass egg sculptures with landscapes painted on them. They are three feet high with a 3D effect.
Happy feet
The shape of the egg has always fascinated me. It implies birth and generation of new ideas and thoughts. I first started with my egg sculptures in Philippines. What's on display here is a fresh take on those works. I like my work to be interpretative. All the landscape paintings on display are imaginary landscapes that allow a viewer to draw his own inferences. I have led a nomadic life and that reflects in my work.u00a0
Figuratively speaking
My favourite Indian artists are Lakshma Goud, Anjolie Ela Menon, Sakti Burman, Ganesh Haloi and Prabhakar Kolte. I love Kolte and Haloi's figurative art works.
