The honeymoon between Sanjay Gupta's White Feathers production and Irrfan Khan proved short-lived. Irrfan, who had replaced Sanjay Dutt in Gupta's Alibaug, has now walked out of the film after shooting for five days.
Says a source close to Irrfan, "He was never comfortable with the idea of replacing Dutt. But Gupta in his usual energizing style convinced Irrfan that he would make him into another Sanju Baba."
Matters strained
The source continues, "Somewhere the tag of Dutt's replacement began to rankle on Irrfan's self-esteem. But what convinced him to walk out of the project were also some serious payment issues on Acid Factory, another of Gupta's films.
Irrfan got tempted to begin with, and was quite taken up with the guns, gals, gadgets and gizmos in the film but matters got progressively strained as shooting progressed. Thingsu00a0 have now comeu00a0 to such au00a0 stage between the director and the actor that Khan has apparently decided not to promote it."
Pleasant things, please!
Irrfan is definitely not doing Alibaug but refuses to confirm it, "I'd rather not discuss it. Let's talk about more pleasant things. New York is a big success. We had a party on Saturday to celebrate its success; we had ourselves a blast. We danced till 4 am.u00a0"
Irrfanu00a0 says he was temptedu00a0 to go wild and do naughty things at the party. "But my wife was there. And that always curbs my instinct to become indiscreet. Else, I'd have really let myself go."
When contacted, Sanjay Gupta maintained that Irrfan was still doing Alibaug.
