Who: Born and brought up in Mumbai, she’s an engineering grad and a proud Malayali.
Followers: A small but loyal 8,797 subscribers on YouTube and 15,544 on her official Facebook page.
Before the internet: She began singing at five and did over 500 stage shows with Hindi bands by age 12. She was also part of an English band in college. She started training in Carnatic music when she was eight, and has also learnt Hindustani classical from gurus including Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan.
Why she did it: “After engineering exams, I was thinking of ways to put my voice out there. I then thought of YouTube,” she says. Samar and Sanam Puri (from boy band SANAM) helped set up her Youtube channel. “They recorded me and shot and edited my videos too.”
Famous for: Vocalist of Mohenjo Daro track Tu Hai, singing with AR Rahman. Back in 2013, she sang Moto Ghotala with Sukhwinder Singh in Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. Latest project: Youtube’s roped her in for the Jammin’ project for which she will collaborate with a Bollywood composer.
