Hrithik Roshan is a voracious reader, and devours most books he sets his eyes on.
But what sets him apart from other obsessive-compulsive readers is that he reads everything aloud from books and novels to magazines, and that's been the case since childhood.
It is well-known that Hrithik had a speech defect (see box) and struggled with stammering as a child. He was able to overcome that by reading aloud and stressing on pronunciation and articulation.

Admits a source close to the actor, "Be it a novel, book, magazine or anything of the written word, Hrithik reads it loudly to himself, page by page, line by line, as recommended by a speech therapist (see box).
Even as a child, he would love to read all books from mystery thrillers to action-packed novels. He's always asking friends to recommend books on the bestseller list and shops for them.

Currently he is reading The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. He has read all the books by Dan Brown also.
He doesn't have a favourite genre. Everythingu00a0 from mystery to romance to philosophy to political thrillers is fair game. He also loves recommending books to people.
A couple of years ago, Hrithik had recommended Power Of Love by Eckhart Tolle to Vivek Oberoi when VO was going through a difficult time in his life."

On Farah Khan's TV show Tere Mere Beech Mein Hrithik Roshan had spoken about his stammering problem that he suffered from since he was 6 years old and how everyone especially kids used to make fun of him.
He confessed how he used to struggle to speak normally without stammering. He told the hostess, "Everything seems normal till you start talking.
The minute you start talking, you get stuck and you don't know why. Right from your toes to the ends of your hair strands, you are in complete shock.
Your heart palpitates, you don't understand and you are aware of people looking at you. You can compare it to hell."

Reading aloud for stammering
The first step is get a favourite book or a magazine, find a selection to read from the book or magazine and time the reading over the next minute while speaking as clearly and fluently as one can.
While reading one should concentrate on the words and read the words again and again. Identify words where one gets stuck and try to repeat those words.
