"I've done several episodes of Las Vegas and Desperate Housewives, but I left the US before my episodes of Desperate Housewives were aired. I've also done a number of commercials in the US. Though I returned to India a year back, the cheques still keep coming," admitted Manchu.

Being the daughter of the legendary Mohan Babu has its disadvantages, said Manchu. "I didn't want to be known only as Mohan Babu's daughter, though I'm very proud of him. I wanted to make a name for myself. So I went to the States to make an identity for myself. Out there, you get work not because of whose son or daughter you are, but on merit. I love their way of functioning, it gave me a sense of worth."

Manchu also hosted a talk show on American television. "The theme of my show was, every ordinary individual has an extraordinary story to tell." Though she is entering Telugu and Hindi cinema now, her staffu00a0-- manager and PR agentsu00a0-- in the US are still functioning. "I haven't closed that part of my life," she said.

Said Varma, "I signed her on after I saw her in a Telugu film Anaganaga O Dheerudu.I was very impressed."
